River Valley Church New Testament Soap Sprint Sample
Matthew concludes His case that Jesus is not merely a good prophet, but the one true Messiah, with an account of Jesus' death and resurrection. As Jesus celebrates His final Passover meal with His disciples, He reveals that His death will bring ultimate freedom from sin and death for all humanity. He is then betrayed by one of His closest friends, falsely accused by Jewish priests, unjustly tried, and wrongfully sentenced to death. Matthew portrays this, not as a failure of the Messianic plan for redemption, but as a necessary sacrifice that actually fulfilled all the Old Testament prophecies. Jesus rises from the dead and gives his disciples the "Great Commission," telling them to preach the good news that He has defeated sin and the grave, and inviting them to be ambassadors of His true Kingdom built on selfless, unconditional love.
