Career Transitions | Lessons From NehemiahSample

Career Transitions―Follow Your Passion
As I studied Nehemiah’s 'career transition' journey recently, I recognized four insights that may be especially timely for us today. The first phase in Nehemiah’s journey was passion.
To our knowledge, Nehemiah had never been to Jerusalem. But, when Nehemiah’s brother told him that the people of Jerusalem were in disgrace and that their city was still in ruins with no walls or gates for security, their plight broke Nehemiah’s heart.
In Nehemiah 1:4 we read, “When I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days; and I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.”
This God-given passion began Nehemiah’s journey towards a new ‘career’.
Rather than running from an existing job or lamenting the loss of one, run towards the passions of your heart. If there is no passion within your heart, it may not be God’s calling. Instead, continue to seek other possibilities.
