Open Hearts & Open Homes Sample
Day 15

A Good Attitude
Read
1 Peter 4:9
Reflect
To open your home to others is not easy. You don't know what your guests will be like. Craig and I have had some interesting experiences over the years from one couple promptly announcing they didn't like what I had just placed in front of them for dinner, to a mother allowing her child to wet on the floor and not even attempting to clean it up!
But this very simple Scripture is talking about attitude. We are called to have a good attitude.
We are called to show love to others and this is never dependent on their response. It's very much like the way Jesus has treated us. I know I haven't always been nice to Him, but He shows me love "without grumbling". Jesus just loves us, and His love isn't dependent on my response. It's the same with hospitality. We show love as Christ loved us. With this attitude, I can open my heart and my home with grace for whoever God brings.
Respond
Are there people I need to forgive that have hurt me in the past which has stopped me opening up my heart to others?
Pray, specifically to ask the Holy Spirit to help you have a good attitude towards hospitality.
