JESUS AND JAIRUS

In today’s Bible Quest, you’ll find yourselves somewhere you may have been before. Storyteller Fabula is sure that Jesus is there, too, but where? Find Jesus and you’ll discover what this Quest is about!

If you have several devices, play the game at the same time. Or watch each other play, in turn. Clamber and climb, run and jump, and there is Jesus! But wait! Who is this? Jairus?

Jairus was an important man in Capernaum, in charge of the Jewish meeting place. But being important did not help when his daughter was ill. Jairus knew that the only person who could help was Jesus…

TALKABOUT

• What is your favourite part of the story? Why do you like that part so much?
• Can you find the ‘God moments’ in the story – the moments when you can see God in action? Perhaps when the woman who touched Jesus’ coat was healed? When Jesus told Jairus to have faith? When the dead girl came back to life? What would it have been like to be there, at that moment?
• This Bible story is about drastic situations: being ill for a long time, dying or losing a person you love. In your family, how do you help one another when times are difficult and things go wrong? Do you need to hear Jesus today, saying the words he said to Jairus: ‘Don’t be afraid, just have faith…’?

TALK WITH GOD TOGETHER

Sit in a circle together. Starting with the oldest person, turn to the left and say: ‘Jesus says, “Don’t be afraid.”’ Pass the message round the circle.

Then start with the youngest person, turn to the right and say: ‘Jesus says, “Just have faith.”’ Pass the message round, until you have all said and heard Jesus’ words.
