The gift that keeps on giving
Who doesn’t like a gift? Whether it’s Christmas, birthdays, or just a random gift from a friend or family. Regardless of the situation, it always seems to provide a smile to the face of the receiver. But have you ever thought about 'why we like to give gifts?' I think it comes back to this thought of blessing people. You see, you don't know what the full impact of your gift will be. Maybe that gift unlocks a new passion, equips them to do something they couldn’t do before, or simply something that provokes happiness in their life. The possibilities are endless, and that's why it's exciting for both the gift giver and the receiver.
Just like the desire humanity has to give gifts, God has gifts for anyone who would choose to believe in Him too. These gifts are designed to equip you in your walk with Jesus [Rom 1:11], help build His church [1 Cor 14:12], and are given through the Holy Spirit [1 Cor 12:1]. So what are these gifts..? Wisdom, knowledge, faith; healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, discernment, and speaking in tongues [1 Cor 12:8-10]. Along with, serving, teaching, encouraging, being generous, leading and being merciful [Rom 12:6-8]. So what do you need to do to receive these? The Bible says 'ask' [1 Cor 12:31] and watch as the Holy Spirit distributes these gifts into your life. [1 Cor 12:11].
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You that You're a generous God. Today I ask for a release of Your spiritual gifts in my life. Help me understand what these look like and how they can help build Your Kingdom on earth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
