The Holy Spirit, our Teacher
Not sure if this was your experience, but when I was at school, I struggled to receive advice and constructive criticism from teachers. Often thinking they were out of touch with the times, it was a battle to submit my ego and take on board what they were saying. What's interesting is that although I didn't like what they were saying back then, I am so thankful for their advice now and how it has had a positive influence on my life.
Just like a good teacher, one of the Holy Spirit's roles is to tell us things we don’t always want to hear, this can look like the Holy Spirit highlighting areas of sin in our lives [John 16:8]. It's interesting because although we may not like the Holy Spirit doing this, we will end up thanking Him as we become more like Christ [2 Thess 2:13]. Although this can be an overwhelming thought, we serve a gracious God, who will often only reveal one or two areas that we need to work on at a time. Allowing you to overcome these areas before identifying more. The Holy Spirit will also provide steps with how you can overcome these areas by sending scriptures and people in your life to help you! I know I have been so thankful that the Holy Spirit has chosen to reveal hard things to me over the years, and I know you will be too.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You that You are a gracious God who loves me and wants the best for me. Holy Spirit I give You full permission to highlight any area of sin in my life and anything that is preventing me from becoming more like Jesus. In Jesus' name, Amen.
