God’s Word is indispensable
As Christians, we are often urged to read the Bible. Why is this so important? Because the Bible is not just a historical book about Israel’s history or a description of Jesus’ words and life. The Bible is God’s Word, breathed out by him with the intention that we should live by it (see 2 Timothy 3:15-17).
In the Old Testament, God taught Israel that “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God”. In the New Testament, Jesus quotes this passage when Satan tries to tempt him to sin. Apparently, Jesus took these words very seriously and applied them in his life. We’d better follow his example!
Real life is not just about our physical bodies. Real life comes directly from God and from trusting his Word. These words are indispensable for living righteously here on earth, but also for knowing God and living with him eternally.
Do you read the Bible regularly? If not, let today’s text encourage you to do so!
