DAY 4 OF 10

Day 4: Think

The good news is that transformation comes by renewing your mind. Your mind is renewed when you read and meditate on the Word of God. In order to come to the place where you are renewing your mind, you must first recognize that you are in need of freedom and transformation.  The word renew in Romans 12:2 is a fantastic word. The Greek word is anakainosis, which literally means “restoration” or “renovation.” When you think of renovating a room in your house, before you are able to put the new in, you must tear down the old part. The areas that are broken, cracked, not useful, or just not looking good anymore experience the tear-down. They get demolished. The same is true with your thought life. The first step to renewing your mind is smashing and throwing out the old thinking, the thoughts that are broken and break you.

You have to recognize the lies that have been sitting in your mind for years and have been keeping you bound. You may ask, “How do I know what thoughts are not from God?” Open up the Word of God and compare what God says to what the wrong thought is saying and repeating in your mind. Part of renovation includes emptying out the old.

The next step is where many have attempted to be free, but to no avail. The reason is that they may be recognizing the old thoughts that are keeping them from being free and they throw them out, but they never finish the renovation. In order to complete the renovation, the new must be built. Building into your mind the new way of thinking through replacing the old thoughts with the words of God is absolutely necessary each day. When you knock down the old thought, replace it with the truth of God’s Word. Renovating is not a one-day event. Renewing the mind is continual. It is a lifelong project to remove the lies and replace  them with God’s truth.

What’s the result of renovation and restoration of our minds?  Tranformation!

The evidence of being set free is by a changed outward manifestation. Your words, actions, and lifestyle are transformed by the renewing—or renovation—of your thinking.

Choose to renew your mind today. Remove the old and ugly lies, and replace them with the new; the truth. You will find a new way of living fully free.
