Two Ways to LiveSample
The Delight of the Godly
The Christian life is not primarily about the avoidance of the world and its sinful pleasures but rather delighting in holy pursuits. Thus, the godly man delights in the sacred Law of the LORD for as Gregory the Great (540-604 AD) said, one “learns the heart of God in the words of God.” Just as a married man who delights in the love of his wife avoids the lustful pleasures of illicit affairs, the godly man shuns all sinful endeavors since he delights in the very heart of God in God’s Law. A man’s delight determines his decisions. This delight causes the godly man to meditate diligently on God’s word day and night. He is a faithful student of the word not to be master the word of God, but rather to be mastered by the word of God. The pleasures of God’s word are too vast to mention for it contains deep treasures that must be sought and pristine waters that must be drunk.
The Gideon’s International print the following words in every Bible they produce to ensure that the reader understands how marvelous God’s word truly is, for “the Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given to you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.” May we be diligent disciples of Jesus who delight in His Law and meditate on it day and night.

About this Plan
“How shall we live?” is a question every person in this world must answer. The Psalmist in Psalm 1 tells us that ultimately there are only two ways to live in this world. Join me as we explore these two ways and answer “how shall we live?” by meditating on Psalm 1.
