A good life essentially comes from acknowledging and submitting to God’s will in our life. 

When my husband and I graduated from seminary in Dallas, Texas, in 2010, the last place I wanted to be was back in North Carolina. We fully expected to stay in Dallas; we had made it home. Meanwhile, my husband’s step-father had been undergoing cancer treatments for about 2 years. 

When we felt the call to move back home it was not a loud booming voice from heaven, but His quiet providence over every detail of our situation. Despite the fact that I didn’t want to go, there was no denying the Lord’s plan, and I’m so thankful I listened to His guidance. 

A year after our move back to NC, I was working for the same Hospice that my husband’s step-father passed away with. I could never have imagined how that would play out, and still now it amazes me how God’s plan was so much better than my own. 

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21

I don’t share part of my story to over simplify the act of trusting in God.  In fact, there have been many tears and hardships along the way. God’s plan may not be easy, but it does mean that everything God does for His purpose is good, even if I can’t understand it. 

We are called to fully trust God’s sovereignty and to remember His record of faithfulness. When we don’t trust God’s faithfulness, it reveals a lie that has been whispered as long as time-- that God is not good and that His love is not enough. 

A good life essentially comes from acknowledging and submitting to God’s will in our life, and His plan and purpose will prevail just as it has since the beginning of time.

Lord, I pray that every woman reading this would learn to trust You even more deeply with every aspect of their daily life and growth. I pray they would seek You, talk with You, and believe that You love them more deeply than they could ever imagine. If they are going through a hard time, I pray that Your presence would be felt. Even when our plans are not Yours, I pray that we would submit to Your will and purpose. Give us grace when we struggle to trust and strengthen us to follow You more closely. Allow us to glorify You as You work out Your will in our lives. Amen.
