Swhw Bible Reading Plan: AprilSample
Top Takeaway from Caroline Foster:
One of the main themes in Isaiah was that the non-Israelites could rejoin the Israelites. God’s main intention was that through His people, He would bless ALL people with the gospel. Through the family of David, the whole world could be saved because of Christ's death and resurrection.
This group of verses reminded me of a few important things:
1. God’s Word MUST be available to all people in all languages, and we can not limit God’s love to our own people, but to all people. This is why as believers it is so important that we are involved in making sure that everyone hears the gospel through missions.
2. Power fades quickly. We must beware of placing our confidence in human hands because one day it will fade. Jesus alone is our only hope.
3. God is sovereign and grace giving. Over and over again the Israelites sinned and rebelled, but He never stopped pursuing them.
4. Israel continually made the mistake of being too proud to depend on God, and if we aren’t careful, we will do the same thing.
5. Our hope must lie in God, the only One who can hear and help.
As I thought about how these things can play out in how we live and work today, I thought of a few things:
1. Is there an opportunity for you to use your financial blessings to strategically give towards expanding the presentation of the Good News of Jesus? Maybe it’s through overseas missions? Maybe it’s tying a project your office is doing with something that helps provide study Bibles to a college ministry in your town? The examples and opportunities are endless, but what a cool way to be involved in expanding and reaching people with the gospel!
2. As you work today, focus on working from a place that gives God greater glory. Remind your teammates that our job as believers is to work for King Jesus.
3. Give grace. Remember that God has given you so much more than you deserve, and as a result, we get to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around us.
4. Ask yourself- are you too proud? Do you depend on God or try to take things into your own hands?
5. Focus on Jesus > everything. Make honoring and glorifying Him your mai goal.
Thank You, Lord, for Your Word, our life map and guide. I pray that in the way we live and work today, we would bring You GREATER GLORY, HONOR, AND PRAISE. I pray that we would not get caught up in putting others on pedestals, but be reminded that You are our hope and firm foundation. Help us be a light wherever we go today. Amen.
About this Plan
Using God's Word as the foundation for our conversation, every devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work; aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical 5-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
