Lead Out PeopleSample
Lead out people seek to encourage. When Deborah called Barak to be God’s appointed leader he refused to go into battle unless she came too. There are varying opinions on why Barak would only go into battle if Deborah accompanied him. One of the more accepted thoughts is that Barak mistrusted his own strength and possibly felt too weak to carry out the command of God. He wanted divine help and energy for the battle, and the presence of the prophetess Deborah would have been an encouragement for both Barak and the army.
When there was no one else leading out and when there was need for it, Deborah arose and everything changed. Leading out is all about others! It’s about serving. It’s about pouring courage into the discouraged. It’s about rising up for the vulnerable. It’s standing strong when others cannot. Ultimately, it’s all about love.
In today's climate, encouragement is rare. Let’s serve others in love by being the first to say “I’m sorry” or saying “thank you”, including others in your class or workplace or putting an end to gossip. Let’s choose to arise in service of others.
QUESTIONS
Where can you make the distinct decision to arise and serve others this week? Where do you see yourself injecting encouragement into the environments in which you frequent?
