The School of PrayerSample

PRAISE THE LORD!
The first seven days of this plan focus on learning to pray to exalt God. Oswald Chambers said, "We look upon prayer simply as a means of getting things for ourselves, but the biblical purpose of prayer is that we may get to know God Himself." Plan to get to know God this week! Set aside a regular time and place to learn from God's Word how you should pray. All you need is this plan, your Bible, and a journal and pen.
Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. (Psalm 111:2)
Read through Psalm 111 one time. Now, read it a second time. Highlight, underline or journal all the words that describe the character and work of God. Use some of the words on that list to write your own prayer of praise to the Lord.

About this Plan

Prayer is essential. Prayer is powerful. Prayer is hard. Most of us feel like we're not doing it often enough or well enough, and we're tempted to give up trying. Instead, let's go back to school and allow the WORD of God to teach us how to TALK to God.
