The Great BattleSample
Satan turned God’s creation into a battle ground
When God had created everything, He concluded that it was “very good.” But this ideal situation did not last long. The first humans were tempted by Satan (who presented himself as a serpent). He made them doubt God’s goodness and suggested that disobedience to God would make humans like God themselves! Adam and Eve believed his lies. But they quickly realized that they had been deceived. Disobedience to God did not make Adam and Eve divine. Instead, it severely damaged their relationship with their loving Creator and resulted in death and destruction.
From that moment on, the world has been a battle ground. For God has not written humanity off. He does not sit and watch how Satan destroys His good creation, but fights back. The book of Revelation gives us a glimpse of the spiritual battle that is going on between God and Satan. We read that Satan has been defeated and is thrown out of heaven. One day he will be totally destroyed.
Are you aware of the spiritual battle that is going on? Do you see the signs of this battle in the world around you?

About this Plan
The Bible calls God “the God of peace”, but also depicts Him as a rider who will strike down the nations with a sharp sword. If we want to understand this paradox, we need to know the basic background story about the battle between God and Satan. This Reading Plan takes seven days to explain it to you.
