What Are Your Life Goals?Sample

Gentleness
“Pursue … gentleness” (1 Timothy 6:11)
Jesus Christ says about Himself: “I am gentle and lowly in heart” (Matthew 11:29). Against this background, it is not surprising that the virtue of gentleness is mentioned as fruit of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23, and that believers are called to pursue gentleness as well. After all, we should resemble Jesus.
Being gentle means adjusting our behavior towards others and placing our strength under God’s guidance. This does not mean that we should never become angry, or that we should simply ignore and accept injustice. It rather means that we only become angry at the right moment, for the right reason, and to the right degree. It is easy enough to express our emotions and opinions, but it is necessary to tame our tongue.
A gentle person prefers to bear injustice rather than committing it, as Jesus tells us: “if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also” (Matthew 5:39).
Jesus Himself did exactly this. Although He had the power to save himself, He chose to bear the sin of humanity and to be crucified in our place. He did not avenge Himself because His suffering was according to God’s will (Luke 22:42).

About this Plan

When asking people what they want to achieve in life, you will probably hear things like wealth, happiness, safety, and a loving family. These are all good things in themselves, but if we focus on them too much, they can draw us away from God. In order to avoid this, the apostle Paul mentions a different list of life goals we should pursue. Let’s study them one by one.
