What Are Your Life Goals?

DAY 9 OF 9

Don’t Pursue Your Life Goals Alone

“… along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” (2 Timothy 2:22)

Pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness and peace is not something we are to do on our own. We are first of all dependent on the Lord God to clean us from sin, to renew our will and to strengthen us to do the right thing. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.

But the apostle Paul adds another valuable piece of advice to his admonitions: we should pursue all these life goals “along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart”. Being a Christian automatically means being part of the worldwide church. Being a child of God implies having spiritual brothers and sisters who can encourage you when you are going through hard times. They can lovingly correct you when you are influenced by false teachings or when you are backsliding morally. And they can support you in pursuing the right goals in life.

The Bible even compares the church to a body that needs all its members to function well. Different church members have different gifts, and they need each other to grow spiritually.

Do you regularly meet with other believers? Does this help you in your spiritual life?

Day 8

About this Plan

What Are Your Life Goals?

When asking people what they want to achieve in life, you will probably hear things like wealth, happiness, safety, and a loving family. These are all good things in themselves, but if we focus on them too much, they can draw us away from God. In order to avoid this, the apostle Paul mentions a different list of life goals we should pursue. Let’s study them one by one.
