Catch Wind Skate DevotionalSample
Discipline often seems like a negative term. Like we are being punished or restrained. But discipline, especially discipline from God is actually a good thing. Discipline can empower you to achieve your fullest potential. It doesn't hold you back. Actually, it is the necessary road that takes you to places you could only dream to see.
In skateboarding we have to practice tricks to get better. If I want to be able to be able to switch flip a 10 stair, then I need to discipline myself to practice switch flips. If I just show up to a beefy 10 and try to switch flip it, I'm gonna get broken off. I have to put in the disciplined hard work beforehand. Practicing switch flips in a parking lot for an hour every day isn't limiting me; it is bringing me closer to my goals. You first have to go through the discipline of learning the trick before you can experience that trick in its fullness.
In Hebrews 12 it says "whom the Lord loves He disciplines." God loves you and wants you to be the best version of yourself. If He didn't, He would let you stay the same and never grow. God has amazing things for your life, but to get there you first must do the simple disciplines He has called you to. It may seem challenging or insignificant at times but later you will see the fruit of God's Discipline.
Challenge: Read your Bible and Pray every day this week. It can be short or long but I promise it will be worth it
