Reset My Obedience

We said yesterday that we need to find our identity in Jesus. But what does this mean? What are the defining marks of someone who really follows Jesus? That’s what we want to look at now.

Christians are often accused of not “practicing what they preach.” However, Jesus was never accused of this. In fact, He even accused the religious leaders of the day of doing that exact thing.

In Jesus’ mind, obedience should be at the top of our list. He tells us to seek Him. He says the religious leaders would be condemned by foreigners who obeyed what God said. He says we can’t put a light under a basket, hiding the light from the rest of the world.

It might be crazy to say, but followers of Jesus follow Jesus. And for all of us who struggle with this, He says, “How much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask!”
