Gaze at a huge tree. Watch the roaring ocean waves crash onto the shore. Hold a bug in your hand. Feel the sun on your back.

What do you sense about God as you immerse yourself in creation?

What do you learn about His creative process?

What do you notice about yourself after spending time in creation?

Choose a way to capture creation’s wisdom – perhaps an album entitled ‘wonders’ on your phone, a sketch or poem in a journal, or taking home a treasure found (stone, feather, flower).

Meet Oswald and Irene Goulter, co-creators from the last century who demonstrated creativity, persistence, bravery, and adaptability during a tumultuous period of Chinese history. 

 ‘“I’m Oswald Goulter, an allotment farmer from Narrabri, NSW. I went to Yale Divinity School and met my wife Irene, a pioneering farmer from Oklahoma while studying. In 1922, we went on a mission to Luchowfu (Hefei), a poor farming town in rural China. By 1931, our community had faced floods, drought, destitution, and restrictions on religious teaching in schools following the rise of Chiang Kai-shek. Inspired by the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:3), Irene and I decided to creatively refocus our ministry using our farming experience. We offered better crop seeds, pasture improvement techniques, imported Merino sheep, and established the Luchowfu Christian Rural Centre to deliver practical agricultural training and evangelism to the locals.”
