Try this:

What would you dare to create if you only created for fun? 


Write the words ‘Let there be’ at the beginning of your page and set a timer for one minute. Just like you would hit the predictive text on your phone, start writing. Don’t think, just write solidly for one minute. Let the thoughts flow without critique. Let the filters fall away. See what your unfiltered mind can dare to dream. Then, give it a go.


What did you discover? What would you like to take further? Is there a trusted friend with who you could share the journey and stay accountable in pursuing the journey the Spirit is taking you on?

Meet Eliza Davies, entrepreneur and co-creator, teacher, and school builder. She was known for her persistence, blue-sky thinking, advocacy, passion for education and evangelism, and the ability to persuade business and government figures to provide financial backing. 


“Brothers and Sisters, I am Eliza Davies. I came to Christ after a sad and lonely childhood in Scotland, coming to my passion for children and education in 1810 while ministering to poor Glaswegian slum children. I first visited Sydney Colony at just 17, but being deeply tested, returned home to Paisley, which is when I heard Alexander Campbell preaching. With my zeal for the Lord reignited, I lived with the Campbell family in Kentucky, teaching at the Female Orphan school before my sister begged my return to Sydney in 1837. It was whilst spreading the Gospel as a Bible distributor that I saw a poor Irish girl wandering the paddocks of Kiama. Pitying her, I built the local children a schoolhouse, becoming their teacher. Establishing a school is exhausting work, but with Christ’s exhortation to compassion and self-sacrifice I repeated this at Flat Rock Creek near North Sydney, becoming the first government-paid teacher in NSW.”
