When You Don't Know What to Pray Sample
When You Feel Called to Be More Loving
Lord Jesus, I have read where You’ve said, “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Yet I’ve realized, Lord, that many times, I have not responded to others in love. Rather, I’ve found myself disliking or having conflicts with people, judging them, and demanding my rights rather than showing them grace. Please forgive me, Father. I know I am not reflecting Your character—and it is hurting my witness for You.
Therefore, Jesus, I ask You to please make me more caring. Teach me how to lay down my life for others, showing them unconditional love as You do. I realize this is not something I can work up on my own but is the fruit of Your Holy Spirit. So, Lord, I submit myself to You to make me kinder and more patient. Purge any need to impress others, jealousy, arrogance, pride, or unbecoming behavior in me. Father, whatever is selfish in me or easily provoked; please heal it. Show me how to be more tenderhearted, forgiving, and compassionate.
Lord, I confess that I have rejoiced when people I don’t like fail; please forgive me. Help me to rejoice with the truth instead. I will root for everyone to mature in their faith, trust You more, and experience Your freedom and victory.
Father, empower me to bear all things, remembering that everyone I meet is someone You love and has hidden inadequacies, fears, and battles that deserve my compassion. Help me always to believe the best about people, to hope, to pray for Your breakthroughs in their lives, and to have a love for them that endures even when I am wronged. Lord Jesus, You never fail, so help me not to falter in glorifying You by caring for others.
Thank You, Jesus, for making me a channel of Your love to those I meet. And thank You for never leaving or forsaking me. I owe so much to Your unconditional love—to the great sacrifices You’ve made for me and the immense blessings You’ve given me. Help me live my life in loving thanks to You.
In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
