Romans 14 reminds us that freedom in Christ can look different on different people.  What (outside of sin, of course ) might be great for you, might be something the Holy Spirit has set a tighter boundary on for me.

We need to be mindful that we do not live in isolation.  Our life and our decisions impact those around us. 

Not just the lost, but our brothers and sisters in Christ as well.

We do not want our freedoms to ever cause issues for other believers. 

Paul gives the example that he knows there are no unclean foods, but if a new Christian who is still holding to old tradition was offended by certain foods, Paul wouldn’t be eating those because it would not be walking in love in front of that brother.

Sometimes we have to put our preferences aside and consider those around us.

“So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.”

Romans 14 reminds us to walk in awareness and operate in what is most honoring to God, to not cause stumbling in a brother regardless of our freedom in it.

Father,  first we thank You for freedom and we thank You for walking in the community. We ask that You help us always be building up and creating peace, never causing stumbling. Keep us with our spiritual ears open to hear how You may be leading us in our freedoms and boundaries in regards to those around us.  Amen
