Attitude of Gratitude - 7 Truths About Being Thankful

DAY 2 OF 7

Grateful for Jesus

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.   John 3:16

Sometimes gaining popularity becomes a double-edged sword. John 3:16 is possibly the most well-known, often cited, and beloved verses of Scripture in the entire Bible.  Former college football Heisman Trophy winner, Tim Tebow famously wrote John 3:16 on the black strips beneath his eyes during the national championship game that they also won. By the end of the game, over 90 million people had Googled John 3:16. How about that for going viral?

On the other side of the coin, you can tend to gloss over the powerful gift of sacrificial love without expressing gratitude for the enormity of what it means. Take time to re-read John 3:16 and look for the action verbs that tell a story of a Father who is willing to give and a Son who is willing to die just so you can live. Jesus had free will and had He chosen to, coming off that cross would’ve been as simple as opening your Bible app. Of course, that would’ve meant you had zero chance at God’s saving grace.

You can show gratitude when receiving something from someone when there is no expectation for something in return. That makes it a gift and not a transaction. What Jesus did for you is the single greatest gift ever given to mankind and to you. When you understand exactly what was given in exchange for your eternal salvation, it makes being grateful a deep desire of your heart. Are you grateful for Jesus?

Showing Gratitude:

One great way for you to show gratitude for what Jesus did for you is to tell someone. Seriously! His sacrifice was for you, and He wants the world to know this through your sharing of a testimony. Tell someone about Jesus.
