God Hears Christmas FearsSample
There was a grandfather who was growing too old to go out and do his Christmas shopping. He decided that he would write each of his kids and grandkids a nice check and put the checks into Christmas cards. In each card he wrote the message, “Buy your own present!”
He mailed out all the cards. He thought there would be some joy and excitement, but during the family Christmas festivities, he could tell something was wrong with his kids and grandkids. They were not willing to come out and say what it was, but he could tell they were not their normal cheery selves.
After the Christmas season was over and all the excitement had faded, the grandpa went into his study to sit down and write some letters. To his horror, under some papers on his desk, he found a stack of checks! He had forgotten to put the checks into the Christmas cards.
Is Christmas that stressful for you? As I look at the Christmas story, there are a lot of parts to it that we do not always stop and think about.
I think the first Christmas was stressful. It was a little bit chaotic mixed with much uncertainty—not just the actual birth of Christ, but even the events leading up to the birth of Christ as told in Luke chapter one.
In many ways, our world today is in a somewhat similar condition—chaotic, with a lot of unknowns in the future. Here in America, we are also desperately in need of a touch from our Savior.
Do you have a lot of Christmas fears this year? Rest assured that you are not the only one, and know that the Father hears you and will give you peace if you will just bring those fears to Him.
