God Hears Christmas FearsSample
Back in the pre-COVID era, I took my granddaughter, Willow, to an amusement park geared towards smaller children. She wanted to go on the first ride we came to: a boat that swung back and forth, higher and higher. Willow started out excited, but her excitement quickly turned to fear as the boat kept swinging higher, and our stomachs kept dropping with each downward swing of the boat. By the time the ride ended though, she said, “That was fun.”
How do you go from excitement to fear and then back to excitement? Isn’t that like the emotions of the unknown that we experience in our lives? The Bible tells us over and over to not fear. While there are a lot of things in life to be afraid of, God knows, God cares, and He says, “It’s going to be ok.”
He will get you through it. He might even set some things in motion before the fear hits you–things that will help you deal with that fear. The fact is, you will be afraid. There will be moments of fear in your life. But what should you do? Just like the Psalmist says in today’s Scripture passage, “…I will trust in Thee.”
If we trust in the Lord, if we have the proper fear of God, all other fears will go away. If we properly reverence and respect God, and believe that He is telling the truth, all other fears will fade away.
So, how do we remember to trust the Lord when God allows hard times in our lives? We need to remember His Word and what He has told us. He says, “I’m not going to leave you, I’m not going to forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5) He hears your Christmas fears. He loves you and cares for you, and He is always there for you. Trust Him.
