Fasting and Prayer: 21-Day Challenge

DAY 1 OF 21

FOLLOW ALONG WITH OUR AUDIO VERSION OF TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL

AN INTENTIONAL LIFE

READ

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”—Isaiah 58:6 (NIV)

REFLECT

The life we’re invited into with Christ requires intentionality. As we begin this 21-day journey, ask yourself, “What is the Lord calling me to fast over during this season? How might He bring His hope and purpose to my life?”

PRAY

Heavenly Father, I thank You for always drawing near to those who draw near to You! As I begin this fasting journey, I pray You will work in and through my life to accomplish Your purposes. I pray for breakthrough in the areas of my life that require it, and I pray You’d use me to bring breakthrough to those around me. And above all else, I pray this journey will draw me closer to You, renew my heart, and make me more like Your Son, Jesus. Amen.

FOR THE FAMILY

DISCUSS

  1. What is fasting all about, and why is fasting important?
  2. What do you want to fast from so that you can take extra time to be with God in prayer and Scripture?

PRAY

Heavenly Father, You are my King! I thank You for always coming close to us as we come closer to You! As we take a break from different things to spend more time with You, I pray You will teach us more about who You are and what Your Word says about us. Make me more like Jesus. Amen.

About this Plan

Fasting and Prayer: 21-Day Challenge

Take a 21-day journey of prayer and fasting with us. Why a fast? Because in it, we have this amazing opportunity to grow closer to Jesus and know Him more deeply as we seek freedom, breakthrough, and guidance! In this plan, we'll have the opportunity to read Scripture and a devotional, meditate on a reflective prompt, and pray.
