Walk Through The Bible 365 - OctoberSample

Are We Allowed To Hate?
The words love and hate sound like a novel such as by the Russian author Leo Tolstoy. We are commanded from God’s Word to love Him and one another and now we read that we are to hate. It is clear we are to hate evil.
Evil surrounds us in many forms such as war, murder, child slavery, adultery, etc. These acts are committed by sinful people. We should hate these evil things and eschew them as righteous Job did (Job 1:1) and as Peter instructed us to do (1 Peter 3:11). To eschew is to turn aside or turn away from evil.
Joseph ran away from the temptress wife of Pharoah! On the other hand, we are to love God and others so much that evil should not have any influence upon us but to hate it. Anyone familiar with the Star Wars movies knows that there is an epic cosmic battle of evil versus good. Hating evil and having perfect love wins!
Prayer: Your Love is mighty and powerful, Lord. Help me to love you with all my heart, soul, and mind. I pray that I may hate evil things and you will guard me from them. Help me to love others with your perfect love. I pray to be a holy vessel of righteousness and love. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
