DAY 9 OF 10

The Crucifixion

When Jesus had tasted it, he said, "It is finished!" Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
John 19:30 (NLT)
I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.
John 17:4 (NLT)

Sin had separated people from God, and blood must be shed for people to be forgiven and become clean before God. To atone for a person's sins in the Old Testament, a complicated sacrificial system was in place. Jesus, the Lamb of God, was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. The word “finished” also translates to “paid in full.” Jesus came to finish God’s work of salvation, to pay the full penalty for our sins. With His death, the complex sacrificial system ended because Jesus took all sin upon Himself. We can now freely approach God because of what Jesus did for us. Those who believe in Jesus’ death and resurrection can live eternally with God and escape the death penalty caused by sin.

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your broken body, and Your blood shed for me for the forgiveness of our sin. We are forever grateful and thankful. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: John

As “the disciple whom Jesus loved,” the author was undoubtedly an eyewitness to Jesus’ ministry from the beginning. The book emphasises both the deity and humanity of Jesus, known as Logos, and “was made flesh” to come into the world to save mankind from sin. Reading this book will increase our faith, and by believing Jesus as the Son of God, we may have life in his name.
