Returning to the GospelsSample
Are you still living for God?
Living for God is not limited to attending church, it is much more than that. Verse 7 of the sermon on the mount reminds us that God blesses those who show mercy to others and extend a hand to those who need it:
"Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."
When we live for God, we understand that the mercy we have received was given to us to give to others. We cannot be selfish with that which was freely given to us.
God blesses those who choose to live for the kingdom, those who understand that they are part of something much bigger than their own lives.
Are you still living for God? Do you still have the desire to serve others?
Living for God refers not only to the external compassion we can show towards others, but also to the purity of our heart.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."
Purity of heart goes beyond religious rituals, it refers to an inner devotion, a life that constantly seeks to please God.
We all make mistakes because we are imperfect, but in spite of that, we have the possibility to live with a pure heart day after day. The condition of our heart and thoughts is very important.
Living for God is not an obstacle-free path, but it is definitely worth it. It is worth it to commit ourselves to live according to his Word, and to live in such a way that we are the reflection of heaven on earth.
Decide today to live for God in every area of your life!
Prayer: Jesus, thank you that you work in us and through us to establish your kingdom on this earth. I ask you to cleanse my heart and help me to live according to your Word. Amen.
