Presence 10: Arts That Inspire Reflection & PrayerSample
Restoration
The verses here in the opening of Psalm 23 remind me of summer days during my childhood. There was a path near our house that led down to fields of wheat. We would often walk through these fields to a place where there was a small bridge over a babbling brook. When the sun shone there would be a haze and shafts of sunlight would break through the trees on the banks of the stream and hit the water with dazzling effect.I have so many fond memories of being at the brook alone or with friends. I spent many hours there lazing around or having fun; this was a place that would rejuvenate my soul, even as a child.
God wants to lead us to such a place, where he can restore us.It doesn’t need to be alongside a stream but think about the places you visit where there’s a stillness and a peace. Maybe we need to visit these places more often. It’s good for our souls!
At Last, the Inhale
Let me
Catch my breath
Hovering,
Fluttering.
Let me
Feel the wind
Whispering
On my skin.
Let me
Feel my roots
Tracing
Water’s edge.
Let me
Pause there.
My suffocating thirst.
Give me
Time to quench it.
Watch me
Awaken,
Leaf to mountain.
Watch me
Delight in
My restoration.
Let me feel,
Let me mend,
Let me tend
To my soul.
Let me
Linger like this.
