Advent: Catholic ReflectionsSample
God is great and mighty. His creative wonders beyond our imagining. His boundlessness beyond conception. God is always going to be greater, bigger, more than our limited minds can ever possibly grasp.
A better person than me once said that God is always more than you think, and our interpretation of God is only ever wrong when we imagine God to be unloving in some way. But however we imagine God, it is always less and smaller than the truth. And yet, even though God is so much greater than we can imagine, he loves and cares for us. He longs to lift our burdens and comfort our weary souls.
In our Bible readings today, Isaiah reminds us that the Almighty Lord renews the strength of the tired and weary, whilst Matthew tells us Jesus' words when he exhorts us to come to him for rest, for he is "gentle and humble of heart." We see here the great contrast and mystery of the qualities of a God who is both mighty and humble, strong and gentle.

About this Plan
Advent is, of course, a time to prepare. To prepare our homes, lives, and our hearts. Join us as we explore the Bible readings used by the Church to challenge, encourage, and help us prepare, not only to celebrate the incarnation but also the second coming of Christ.
