Drowning in Doubt?Sample
Who Are You Reaching Out To?
Today’s guiding verse is often used to encourage people to share their faith, and that is a very good application of this teaching. However, as we learned this week, we need to hear the Word of God ourselves, even after we believe. Hearing the Word helps us grow in our faith. Therefore, we must speak the Word over our own lives and speak it to each other.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 takes this idea a step further. It says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."
Paul is saying that, since we receive comfort from God, we can in turn comfort others. What an incredible privilege we have as God's people! We not only get to know God deeply in our own trials, but we can speak that faith into others.
Who can you be comforting? What obstacles have you overcome and how might God use you to encourage others dealing with something similar? Ask Him to show you how to live this out in the days to come.
As you engage with God’s Word:
● What is God saying to me?
● What does it mean to me?
● How can I apply what God is teaching me?
● How can I be specific in prayer today?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
