Through the Bible: 1 ThessaloniansSample
Are You Standing Firm in Your Faith?
For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter had tempted you and that our labours might have been in vain.
1 Thessalonians 3:5 (NIV)
In the book of Thessalonians, we see the love that Paul had for his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Due to a riot, Paul had fled the city of Thessalonica and he had an intense longing to see them again.
He was concerned that the believers might have fallen away from their faith due to the opposition they were facing. He sent Timothy to encourage and strengthen them so that no one would be disturbed by their afflictions. Timothy came back with good news! The believers had remained faithful! Paul wrote the letter to express his joy.
Are you standing firm in your faith? Or are you discouraged and wavering in your faith?
Prayer
Abba Father, thank You for the measure of faith allotted to us. Help us to overcome afflictions that hamper our faith. Help us to feed on Your word that is Spirit and Life. We shall walk by faith and not by sight. Thank You that our faith is not based on our own strength but on God’s power. Help us to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promise of God. In Jesus’ most precious name, Amen.

About this Plan
While awaiting the return of Jesus in the midst of trials and persecution, Christians in Thessalonica must have been greatly encouraged to receive this letter from the Apostle Paul praising them for their persevering faith and giving assurances concerning the resurrection of believers who die before Christ returns. No matter our circumstances, let this letter encourage us that we may always rejoice and give thanks for our hope in Jesus.
