I always want to be independent and hate to ask for help. For me, the worst feeling in the world is being helpless. But the truth is, there is so much we need help with in life. This is especially true when it comes to the areas in our lives where we miss the mark for what God says is best or our sin. That’s why Jesus came. When Jesus died on the cross for us, He defeated our sins. Jesus made the way for us to be forgiven and to experience life the way we were meant to.
It’s hard to accept this sometimes, though. This is why we can fall into the trap of trying to do enough good, follow enough rules, or know enough about the Bible to make up for the things we’ve done wrong. Now those things aren’t bad, but they aren’t what gives us access to God. Jesus said that He is the only way to God. We don’t have to try to make up for all the ways we messed up in decisions we’ve made or things we’ve done. That’s such good news. Jesus took care of it all so that we could focus on following Him.
So today, take a few minutes to talk to God about what you think about all of this. Ask God for help, remembering that the way was made for you to connect directly with God.
I challenge you today to find something in your life that might be currently determining your value. Then, pray and ask God to show you your true value–how valuable you are to God!
