Temporary Art
All live performance is temporary art. Most of my magic shows are the same series of tricks, and yet, depending on how audience members interact and react to things, each show is a different adventure every time. In the same way, you could attend all eight shows that a Broadway musical in New York performs in a week, and, though it is the same script, music, and actors, every show would be slightly different in the unique moment of time. Every song sung before a live audience is an extraordinary instant. Every fireworks display is a brilliant one-time flash in the night. Every flower garden is seasonal.
God treasures those unique experiences.
God loves temporary art!
Just look up at the clouds.
The vivid artistry of the sky leaves us in awe.
According to the World Meteorological Organization’s International Cloud Atlas, there are more than one hundred different types of clouds. What? That’s why the old childhood pastime of lying in a grassy field on your back and staring up at the clouds is always new. From dragons to pirate ships to puppy dogs, we can let our imaginations run wild and discover new worlds every day simply by looking up.
God’s continual desire to create temporary art demonstrates that whether it is something as long-lasting as a mountain or as temporary as ripples forming across a lake, God will never be finished with his creative work. The Scriptures promise that even after we die, God has plans for a new heaven, new earth, and even a new body for us.
Just as “in the beginning,” God will not restrain himself and his creative pursuits by time, space, or material. Even though we are but a whisper compared to his permanence, he treasures the opportunity to create and collab with us.

About this Plan
We can feel lost, unworthy, and unremarkable in this broken world. But we’re invited to—in fact, created for—an ultimate collaboration with God himself. In this 6-day plan, magician and storyteller John Michael Hinton, in collaboration with Ken Castor, will help you find your significance as God’s masterpiece and discover how to partner with God in his creative process. Unlock your true purpose by imaginating with God.
