Adulting Ain't Easy: A 7-Day Reading Plan for 20-SomethingsSample
Never Alone
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. ISAIAH 41:10 NLT
Lizzy was lonely. She lived by herself. Each evening as she unlocked her apartment door, she wished someone would be there to greet her, but there never was. So Lizzy did what any lonely person might do: She bought a kitten. Actually, she bought two kittens. (Big mistake.) She spent months researching everything one needed to know about cat ownership. She went to the pet store and picked up her two adorable furballs, naming them Jack and Peach. When she brought them back to her apartment, horror dawned on her. Lizzy had forgotten she was not a pet person. And she had just purchased two cats!
She watched the kittens bounce around her living room, her home feeling smaller by the second. She watched as cat hair floated through the air. “Oh no,” Lizzy gasped. “I’ve made a big mistake.” The next day, she took her kittens back to the store. Thankfully, the manager was understanding, and the kittens went to another home with people who were thrilled to own a pet. Lizzy drove home, walked back upstairs to her apartment, and was solo once again.
She sat down in her empty apartment and felt the weight of loneliness once more. Feeling this weight, she whispered three words that immediately changed her perspective: “Jesus, help me.” Suddenly the weight was lifted, and Lizzy realized that she had never been truly alone. Even in her loneliest moment, God had always been with her. And guess what? The same is true for all of us.
God will always be with us. There will never be a moment in our lives when we are alone. In our highest high or our lowest low, God is there too. God has many names in the Bible, and each of His names mean different things. One of God’s names is “Emmanuel.” Emmanuel translates to “God with us.” Even God’s name is a reminder to us that we are never alone. You could fly across the entire world, and still, God would be right there with you. You’ve got a forever Friend who is with you wherever you go.
I AM NEVER ALONE BECAUSE GOD IS ALWAYS WITH ME.
Thank You, God, that You never leave me. Some days can feel lonely, but I choose to trust You and remember the truth that I am never alone.
