Homeschool Moms Teach the Psalms (Psalms 22 - 26)Sample
Psalm 24 - The King of Glory
In Psalm 22, we saw Christ our Savior, in Psalm 23, Christ, our Shepherd, and in Psalm 24, we see Christ, the King of Glory.
Verses 1 and 2 remind us that God founded the earth and belongs to Him (Job 38:4). No matter what comes, it is still His. He will again reign, breaking the curse that came through the fall of Adam (Revelation 22:3).
Verses 3 through 6 reveal this holy place fit for a King and who can dwell there: “He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart.” It is the blood of Christ that cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). And it is a generation of those who seek Him that can stand in that place: “This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face.” (See Hebrews 11:6, Psalm 27:8, Proverbs 8:17, and Jeremiah 29:13)
Verses 7 through 10 show us what kind of King this is that reigns over the earth and the heavens. He is the King of glory, “The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle . . . the LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory.”
One day soon, we shall all see this King and will bow the knee before Him and confess that He is LORD.
Let us prepare for that day now, as we bring our families to the cross of Christ, that we all might be among those who have clean hands and a pure heart and can stand in His holy presence.
To Do With the Kids:
Print out the ten Scripture references in Psalm 24. Cut each verse into a strip and hide the ten verses around the house. Have the children find all ten verses. Come together and put the strips back in order. Talk about how God is seeking those who are seeking Him, just like they were seeking the verses. Make a banner with the names of Christ from these last three Psalms: Christ our Savior, Christ our Shepherd, and the King of Glory. Cut out large paper triangles, write one name on each triangle, and staple them to a long ribbon to hang in your home.
