Vision: Seeing Life God's WaySample
God's Ways are Higher
Sometimes when we walk out God's plan, we can only see the step right in front of us. We can't see any farther than that one step, so we start getting nervous.
This is where we tend to overthink things.
The Lord tells us in Isaiah 55:8, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. And it's a good thing too. We only have our very limited human view to rely on, but God is not bound by earthly things like time or money or needing food or sleep like we are.
Being able to only see the step right in front of you means we have to trust that God is God and that he has our best interests in his heart when he asks us to take the next step.
You may be scared. It may make you anxious if you don't know what comes next. That's ok. Trusting God is the crucial part.
God is Faithful
Why should we trust God?
The first and best reason is that he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross as a sacrifice for us while we were still sinners. He gave us the ultimate gift to save us from death and the grave.
We can also trust him because he is consistent. Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This means that what was true for people who lived in Bible times is still true for us. His promises remain.
Because he knows the plan, because he created you, gifting you with certain things according to his plan for your life, you can trust him to work in and through you. Letting the Lord establish us in his timing means we don't have to strive or force things. We can rest in knowing that God himself anointed, appointed, and commissioned us for whatever he calls us to.
Questions: Do I trust God's vision for my life? Why or why not? Am I trying to force my life to go my way? Am I rushing or delaying because of fear?
Prayer: Father, thank you for sending your son to die on a cross to redeem my life! Any time I try to slip back into my old ways of controlling things, please bring this to my memory so that I will be grateful all over again. Thank you for creating the perfect plan for my life--help me to catch your vision and run with it. In Jesus' name, amen.
