30 Days for the Life You Prayed for by Edward VentersSample

Holy Ghost-inspired living is the key. That is a thought life that constantly reflects the Word of God. We, as Christians, tend to separate our habits or hobbies from the church and the Word. This should not be the case. Every aspect of our life should revolve around the Word of God. No matter what we do, we should be caught glorifying God with our entire lives. This includes eating habits, friends, entertainment, music, movies, etc.
In order for us to break this cycle, there has to be a cadence spoken. When I played football, the coach would give us cadences that would dictate the current play and scheme depending upon the opposing offense. We would try and predict the play they were going to run based on previous games and films we studied. Most coaches only have a handful of plays, and, especially in high school, they tend to be fairly simple. So, we would prepare three plays for one occasion, and if their offense shifted like we predicted, we would shift the defense so that would better prepare us for the plays they ran. This is the same case with old habits and fighting the devil. The Word of God is our coach, and whatever the devil throws at us, we have a book full of audibles designed to defeat any and everything he throws at us. Life and death should be spoken into our current circumstances.
Remember the Genesis account? We are going to pair this with Proverbs 18:21. We tend to have a negative association with death. Not in this case. We are going to speak death upon our old habits and our old thought life. In order for a new life to be birthed, the old must die (2 Corinthians 5:17).
So, when that old habit tries to come back to life, we must say, “I rebuke that in the name of Jesus!”
