Day 1
Written by Jake Trotter
In the parable of the sower, Jesus is talking about the seeds of truth that His voice is scattering over the multitude of people. Though these seeds were easily tangible and available, some didn’t receive them and ended up having their seeds devoured instead of fulfilling the purpose they were made for.
Like the seeds of truth that Jesus scattered among the people, God has instilled specific seeds of opportunity and spiritual growth in you that are meant to take root and thrive. However, there is a ravenous adversary who seeks to steal these things from you by using any means possible. Never before has a generation lived in a time like this with so many distractions such as busy schedules, peer pressure, social media, political and social unrest, temptations, insecurities, and lies that can distort the purpose that God has for your life.
So, what can you do to protect and nourish your seeds? You can sow into good soil by guarding your heart above all else (see Proverbs 4:23). Be aware of what you are listening to and watching with your eyes. Ask the Lord if your thoughts and actions are pleasing to Him. Find an accountability partner who will pray with you and help you stay disciplined. Don’t let others steal your joy because God put that in you for a reason. And above all, dig into the living Word of God, start planting your seeds in the environment of truth, and water them by spending time with God in time of worship and prayer.
Pray this prayer with us today:
Jesus, thank You so much for this day and everything You have done for me. Thank You for the seeds that You have scattered upon my life; thank You for the wonderful gifts, talents, and opportunities that You have given me; and thank You for the Word of God that I can use in day-to-day life. Lord, I ask that You help me find and cultivate the seeds that You have given and not let them go to waste. Lord, I pray that the seeds that You have given me will bless others and shine the glory of Your kingdom and honor for others to see forever and ever. Amen.
