Acts: Go & Be Chapters 19-28Sample

Acts: Go & Be Chapters 19-28

DAY 17 OF 20

What is this passage saying?

Now that Paul has stood in front of Festus, King Agrippa, and Bernice, he is now on his way to meet with Caesar in Rome. He is boarding a ship heading that way. There is no smooth sailing. The ship comes across this major storm. The crew on the ship must throw almost everything overboard for the ship to remain afloat. As they make their way toward Rome, the winds go against them. But God is still making a way for Paul to get to Caesar. He sends an angel to tell Paul he will make it to Rome to stand before Caesar.

What is the passage teaching?

Even amid a storm and there is no outward peace, God shows us that He is in control and is providing inward peace. This passage gives us details about Paul’s sail toward Rome. There were some obstacles that the crew on the ship faced along the way. But we see God's faithfulness towards Paul towards the end of today’s passage. God is always working things out for those who are called by His purposes. God sends an angel to tell Paul that everything will be okay and that he will stand before Caesar. God is working on Paul’s behalf because his purpose is for Caesar to hear the Gospel. God reminds us here that He is in control and is making a way when there seems to be no way in the storm.

How do I respond?

God is always faithful! He is providing peace even when it doesn’t make sense. Rest in God’s faithfulness and peace today! “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10). How has God provided peace to you in your circumstance?
