Know Where the Power Comes From
"The Christian life is an impossible life." Can you relate to this statement? Many Christians have a desire to live a life that is close to God and reflects Christ. They want to live a life that shows the fruit of the Spirit as mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23. But they lack the power to consistently live out that type of life because they try to do it by their own efforts. It requires a "supernatural" power. Author and Pastor Dane Ortlund explains the importance of knowing our identity in Christ. It can help us understand the difference between what we know and what we experience in our walks with God.
Listen to Dane...
As we trust the Holy Spirit to work, He pours into us the life of Christ and then empowers us to live it out. This happens as we are filled with Him. With this filling, the Christian life is far more than trying to follow Jesus' example. We are empowered to live out of our new identity as a son or daughter of God. Take a moment to remember how God has given you His Spirit according to Ephesians 1:13-14. Then pray and ask God to fill you with His Spirit by faith according to His promise in 1 John 5:14-15. As you do this, not only will your experience of the Christian life change, but how you live your life as well.
Application Questions:
- Is there an area where you have seen the Holy Spirit help you change?
- What is an area of your life that you would like to see changed?
About this Plan
Put LIFE back into your Christian walk. Paul didn't say "be bored in the Lord." Samuel didn't write "my heart yawns in the Lord." But yet we often live like this. Christians settle for much less than God intended in their walk with Him. No matter your circumstance, God wants you to experience the joy, fulfillment, and excitement that He offers. This 10-day plan features short audio snippets.
