In Our DaySample
Day 6 – Lift Up The Cry
Psalm 42 was written by King David while he and his men were on the run from King Saul. During this time, we find them lamenting in song over their current state of pain and exile from their home and place of worship. They are thirsty and desperate to be united again with the safety of the presence of God and His tabernacle.
What God is doing on the earth today is unique, and to sustain it and participate in it, it will require purity and hunger, as we see demonstrated in the Psalms. If we are to experience a wave of His holiness in our day, we must live our lives in purity, being quick to repent, and allow God to search our hearts and know our thoughts. Our spiritual hunger for His presence and a fresh move of the Spirit in our churches and communities must exceed all other fleshly hunger.
We know through the Word that persistence and a spiritual appetite sets the precedent for effective prayer and seeing God move. So, if you feel that desperate longing like King David and His worshippers did, pray that you would continue to “strike the ground” with tenacity, just as Elisha commanded King Jehoash to do in 2 Kings. And if you don’t yet have that appetite for His presence, ask the Lord to give you dissatisfaction with temporary sustenance and a new and intense spiritual hunger that only He can satisfy.
About this Plan
For generations, the global church has been asking God to bring revival. In this 8-day Bible Plan from his book “In Our Day,” Pastor Dave Patterson will address the God-given cry for God to do MORE in our churches and cities. We cannot manipulate or manufacture a move of God, but we can position ourselves to participate in what He is doing today. Let’s posture ourselves to be in the middle of His move and ask the Lord to “DO IT IN OUR DAY!” —Dave Patterson
