Power for LifeSample
In Psalm 15, David begins with a series of questions addressed to the Lord. David's questions reveal a desire to be regularly in the presence of the Lord. There is something in the heart of each one of us that wants to be near to God our Father. The verses that follow these questions list a number of descriptions of the lifestyle and choices of one who enjoys this kind of relationship with God. The list may feel a little overwhelming if you see it as a checklist to achieve on your own. Instead of viewing it in that way, return to the idea of a father and a child. A child with an amazing father wants to be like the father. An amazing father lives in a way to model life to his child. God, the Father, checks every box on this list. As Jesus lived in our world, He checked every box. We do not need to see this as a disconnected list of do's and don'ts. Instead, consider the privilege you have to live as your Father lives. Spend time today thanking the Father for the model He has provided for you. Thank Jesus for giving you a model to follow. Ask the Father to lead you to be "conformed to the image of His Son." Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to work in you on your behalf to make these things true. (For more on the work of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in this renewal, see Romans 8.)
