Strong: The Promise of 1 Peter 5:10 For God’s DaughtersSample
Day 2: Be Still and Know that I Am God
In my mid-twenties, I came to the painful realization that aspects of my life had been more difficult than I had believed them to be. This realization began with the understanding that my relationship with my parents wasn’t as secure as I thought.
Faced with this revelation and at a crossroads, I needed to walk through doors of healing to address some unresolved areas of my past. Despite being in completely new territory, God brought me to this place because He was ready to do a work within me that would reach beneath the surface of my personal accomplishments into the layers of loss and insecurity that hindered me so strongly.
Many women who have experienced trauma in their past find that re-entering the broken places is difficult. We must intentionally face our pain, which means we might consciously suffer. But when we re-enter these places in partnership with God, He will give us victory over our brokenness.
1 Peter 5:10 provides the roadmap as to how our lives will make that transition from broken to rebuilding. Sandwiched between what was (our sufferings) and what will be (internal strength) comes the mention and intervention of the God of all Grace.
Our God—merciful, compassionate, and full of free, unmerited goodness—will initiate that work of building up your inner being so that you are strong, whole, and complete. It is His good pleasure to complete this amazing work within you, so you can be hopeful that your suffering will come to an end!
You belong to God, and He has called you. He has preserved your life; therefore, He will redeem you.
Living in the light of this heavenly knowledge will be the perfect springboard to finding true hope and healing whilst also bringing you into a deeper awareness of His providential care.
He’s fighting for you and is in complete control.
Questions for Reflection: Can you recall a time when God actively fought for you? What were the circumstances that surrounded this event?
As you reflect on God’s faithfulness towards you, remind yourself that you are surrounded by a gracious God who always works for your good.
About this Plan
God’s heart for His daughters is to see us healed and walking in internal strength. This devotion uses the promise found in 1 Peter 5:10 to show us how God strengthens the core components of our individuality and womanhood so that we can flourish and live authentically in our unique identities.
