HopeSample

Boats of all shapes and sizes use anchors. The anchor for one of the biggest ships ever built in the world, the Seawise Giant, was big and heavy, and weighs 36 tonnes. That’s the weight of 30 cars combined! The ship itself was 657,019 tonnes... The weight of around 547,515 cars! While the size of the anchor is huge, compared to the ship itself it’s relatively small.
The anchor held a huge ship in place and kept it safe and secure. Why is an anchor used as a symbol for hope? An anchor is used by a ship to keep it still, safe and grounded. The ship’s anchor is lowered to the sea bed and keeps the boat from floating off in the wrong direction, it keeps it safe and secure.
Our hope in God is like an anchor for us. Our hope in God keeps us safe and secure and stops us floating off in the wrong direction. Hope might seem like a small thing, but like an anchor on a huge ship when it’s in the right place it keeps us safe and secure. An anchor for my soul. When your hope is in God you are safe and secure.
