Beneath the SurfaceSample

Have you ever thought about how deep the ocean really is? One deep dive will show just how overwhelmingly vast it is. Beneath the sea life and the currents, there's so much happening in the depths of the ocean. It's similar to our own lives — as we start to explore what's underneath the surface of our lives, we might not be sure where to start. So, we'll need a helpful guide to show us how to navigate the depths.

There's a story about a time when Jesus' family accidentally left him behind in Jerusalem. When they went back to get him, they found him teaching in the temple. Then, at the end of this story, we learn Jesus continued to gain wisdom and stature.

Even though he was only twelve years old here, Jesus shows us what it looks like to be in God's presence. When we move closer to God, we gain insight and wisdom for the things God has planned for us. God will show us the different ways we can play a part in the world.

A simple way to get started is through prayer. Spend time talking with God and ask about who you are becoming. You can even ask others to share about how they see God working in your life. Their insight might help you in unexpected ways. As you pray and ask others for help, you'll begin to see how God helps us discover who we are becoming.
