Catechism: Prayer & Worship - Reflection

DAY 1 OF 3

Work is Worship. Have you ever considered that worshiping God goes way beyond music and singing? As we dig into the Scriptures, we see that God desires for us to worship him through every part of our lives. We were, after all, created in his image to worship him by reflecting his glory to all.

Our work, whether it be chores around the house or a job that we go to, is a chance to respond to all that God has done for us, a response born from the love and gratitude we have for Jesus’ saving work on the cross. And because our abilities, talents, and skills are gifts from God to us, how we work and interact with others, our attitude, and work ethic are all opportunities to display the character and nature of God.

In Colossians, Paul encourages us to work with all our heart because the one we’re truly working for isn’t our boss or our parents, but it’s God himself. And God sees not just the work of our hands but also the intentions and motives of our hearts.

As you work, what are you thinking?

When difficulties come, what are you whispering under your breath?

Today, begin embracing the mindset that your work can be done in worship to God. And as you do, you’ll see opportunities to bring glory to God everywhere!

Consider: As you read Romans 5:8-11, think about what Jesus did for us on the cross. What is it about his sacrifice that causes you to worship?

Reflect: Whether you are doing homework or chores, playing on a sports team at school, or working at a job, Paul tells us to do it as if we were doing it for God and that we are to bring glory to God no matter what we do. Reflect today on how the things you do bring glory to God. If they don’t, what needs to change?

Day 2

About this Plan

Catechism: Prayer & Worship - Reflection

There’s only One who is worthy of our worship: God himself. And it's what we were created for and called to do—to reflect Him by living a life of worship—a lifelong response to God revealing himself to us, in us, and through us. This plan is part 3 of 4 from the Feed Catechism's Prayer and Worship series.
