How do we even know what real love is? Because God showed us! He sent His Son, Jesus, to be love in skin; walking among us, showing us how to love others, how to put others first, and how to show love in our words and actions. Jesus showed the single greatest act of love in the history of humankind. He, having lived a perfect life, died on the cross to take the punishment for sin so that we could all be forgiven and be friends with God. The Bible tells us that we know what love is because Christ showed us true love by laying down His life for us.
We love others because God loves us. He loved you before you were even born; He loved you from the very beginning of time. God showed His love for us by sending Jesus for us.
We can’t possibly love others out of our own strength. God loves us, and love comes from Him. When we know God and continue to get to know Him by spending time with Him, we can learn more and more what love looks like, we can share God’s love with others.
