Who Is God? A Study for TeensSample
GOD THE SON
READ: Matthew 3:16-17
Most religions around the world actually acknowledge that Jesus was a real man. Some might say He was a good teacher, while others might say He really showed deep love. But at the end of the day, all other religions besides Christianity won’t acknowledge that Jesus was actually the Son of God and that He rose from the grave.
Now, why is it important to believe Jesus is the Son of God? And why is it important that He rose from the grave? Well, if He’s not the Son, then He wouldn’t be God. If He’s not God, then His death on the cross has no meaning. Unless we acknowledge that He actually rose from the grave and that He is seated at the right hand of the Father, our salvation is pointless.
In 1 Corinthians 15:14 (NIV), Paul says, “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” Without calling Jesus the Messiah, without saying He’s the Son of God, the Christian faith is pointless. But we know He did rise from the grave, and we know He’s given us believers newness of life now and a hope for eternal life to be forever lived with Him. That’s what the Christian life is all about.
If you’re reading this, then you’ve probably given your life to Jesus and you see Him as the Son of God. But think about today—the small moments and the big ones. How are you viewing Jesus in all of those moments? Do you acknowledge the Son when you’re with family and friends, or is He closed off in those moments? Do you acknowledge the Son on social media, or is the King of kings just stuffed away in some box you’ve created?
Today you get to choose whether or not you’ll follow Him or choose your own path. He’s still pursuing you no matter what you choose. Don’t let your time be wasted on earthly things when you’re able to come to the Son in every part of your day.
When you read the Word, acknowledge that Jesus, the Son of God, is present with you. When you’re with family and friends, acknowledge the Son is with you. When you’re on social media, lead people to the Son and follow His guidance.
